Chess Club

A few weeks ago, l, Paul Mitchell, was presented the opportunity to form a Chess Club at Mossman Hall. Since that initial discussion, I have been fully engaged in Melrose Chess Club's inception. My vision for the club is to welcome everyone who enjoys playing chess and those who wish to learn the game. I wish to provide a welcoming place and experience regardless of race, religion, sex, sexual orientation, or age. If you enjoy playing chess, learning about chess, or teaching the game to others want this to be your club. I envision this club as a nonprofit social club that serves its members, those who wish to learn the game, and the community. The club needs a core group of leaders such as a president, treasurer, and secretary. Other roles may need to be filled as time progresses. Membership dues will be collected as a way to fund the club and pay for expenses that arise. Currently the club meets on Saturdays from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm at Mossman Hall to give people the opportunity to meet and converse at their leisure.
